What is the top speed of your Night Rod Special?? My Brother Inlaw told me this weekend that he got his 09 VRSCDX up to 160 MPH last week, I didn't think those bikes were that fast. Can they go more than a buck and a half on the open road???

A stock DX, like any 05 and newer will do 142 at the rev limiter. The 02-04 will do 148. The older bikes have a 30 tooth sprocket, but their 0-60 time suffered. They are up around 3 3/4 seconds. The D, DX and R have the 28 tooth that all the newer bikes have but have a horse power and torque adavantage, so times under 3 1/4 seconds are normal. Figure 3 1/2 on th B, AW and F. I don't know what the SE and X can turn stock.
The rev limiter can be bumped from 9,250 to 10,000. I don't think that will get over 155 on the 30 tooth bikes and only gets the 28s back to 148.
As far as 1/4 mile, the average rider on a stock bike will 12 dead or better. Experienced riders cna turn 11.30. I think somebody said Valerie Thompson turned 11.1 something on a stock B at Firebird.
That the best my poor old brain can pull up.
Yes, there are a couple of V-rods that can ambush even modified modified 'Busas. NOS, turbo, big bore kits, gears and sprockets go a long way. Takes lots more money that I gots.

I am pretty sure that is too high for a stock DX. The speedo only goes to 150 anyway, so does he have a GPS to confirm that speed? I have heard they max out at about 142 mph.

For that matter, what would my Heritage do? (TC88 engine) I had it up to 95 to clear a plug, but don't like to rev my engines much. It felt like it had a lot of room to go.

You guys are starting to see why V-rodders usually avoid the "Have you had your Harley over 100mph" threads. Yes we have, in third gear.
I wanted a red 06 soft tail standard with the K/Q seat. But we test rode the VRSCD...

yeah that speed seems high, i came off a 05 honda cbr600rr, and with exhaust on that, i would do ~164 on the speedo. no speed limiter on them, they are race ready... 78 mph in 1st gear, 115 in 2nd... was contemplating a vrod, but the point of me selling my rocket was to get on something i wouldn't go fast on... so bought a dyna wide glide. now i can cruise, make noise and ride in comfort. i am sure if i bought a vrod, i would do at least 110 everytime i get on it just like the rocket. turn onto the highway, and gas, shift, your over 100 in a blink of an eye....
