Not to mention, even tho the new Max is lightyears ahead of the old max in corner handling, I don't think the new max will be able to hold a candle (equal skilled riders) in twisties to the Ducati.

Fantastic choice!!!! I would probably do the same as you with the Diavel, but the new Aprilia Dorsoduro 1200 is screaming my name.
Not to mention the V Max turns like a station wagon ... Unless you lock up the rear and back it in, you aint gonna hang with this Ducati once you hit the twisties ...

That would be the OLD max. The NEW VMax handles well. Here are 3 buddies of mine on new VMax's on the Dragon last April..

correct , 15000k for valve check and impotantly half the time in labour . sat on a pre production diavel yesterday in Sydney . nice snug saddle , lots smaller than the rod . price for the top model similiar to the rod . A rod was never on my list of "must have" bikes , but this is !

I have to agree this is a great looking bike. It was the best looking bike at the Dallas International Motorcycle show. The street rod that Harley produced from 2006-2007 is the only other bike I would consider to buy besides the Diavel. Just because of the peg positioning on that (street rod) V rod. I had Ducatis for 14 years and then switched to harley's in 2007. The reason for the switch was I could not get parts. I waited for three and half months for a part that I had ordered for my 1991 model 900SS and it still had not arrived in the USA. At that point I decided to get out of Ducatis. To be fair to Ducati , this is when the Cagiva brothers owned Ducati. Warranty repair was also a major issue when I first owned the bike. It was like pulling teeth to get them to fix anything. It took 2 years to get paid for brake repairs, that I had to pay for because Ducati said nothing was wrong with the system. The front brake would jar your teeth out when you pulled in the brake lever because the brake dics would warp after 1500 miles or less, every one with that year model had brake problems. But Ducati insisted we were (ALL) over using the brakes. The next year Ducati changed the disc to fix the problem, but still said there was nothing wrong with dics on the 1991 models. If you do purchase a Diavel try to buy it from a dealer you trust and will hopefully go to bat for you if you have any warranty issues. The bike does look great but you have have to put up with a little BS to own it. Having said that, I would still consider buying one. I would weigh all of the pros and cons in the purchase.

According to the bike press its intention is to take on the V Rod. Despite what some think the V Rod's got a good rep in Europe, its reliable, quick and is reasonably priced for the European market. It may not look good to the Harley purists, but if I ever needed to go back to a bike for everyday transport I'd have one like a shot.

I love Ducati for having one ... a 1098 but this kind of Duc is not for me. And by the way, new Ducati are very dependable mechanic and it dose'nt required more maintenance than others. Which was not alway the case before.

I think the warranty and parts problems that I had were more to due with the way the Cagiva brothers did business. I definitly purfer the look of Diavel over the V rod. I wonder what a vrod would look like with a trellis frame like that of the Diavel?
