Vrod ?s can anyone help with which year vrods had a more upright sitting position and mid controls?
Thanks
carl
There are only two V-Rods with mid controls, the Street Rod (VRSCR) and the Night Rod (VRSCD). I don't recall what years the R was produced, but the D ran from 06 through 08. The R also has a 40 degree lean angle as opposed to 32 degrees for the other models.
If your looking to buy a mid control V-Rod, the 08 D is probably the best way to go. 08 is when the V-Rod's got some upgrades, 5 gallon gas tank, 1250cc motor, Brembo brakes and a slipper clutch.
There are seats and rear-set controls to adjust the ride position on the new V-Rods. But these really don't work so well.
I'm 5-9 with 28-29 inch in-seam and this bike is very uncomfortable in all configurations for me. Dangerous, too. My feet literally blew off the pegs at 110 mph during a test ride.
Too bad, really. Great engine, breaks and style. But unrideable. For me.

You would have to convert it to mid controls. Cost you about $600.
Brembo's started in 2006-up. The frame was re-designed in 2007 to accept the larger 5g tank. Rick's makes a 5g tank kit for 2002-2006 bikes. The "R" model was made for two years and was more naked sport bike than cruiser. The "D" model has the mid controls stock. There is an aftermarket set. Try www.v-mod.com . They have them listed there for 2002-2005.
