Default 2003 VRod

Looking at buying a 2003 vrod. Wanted to know if there were any problems with that year model I should be aware of. Thanks for your time.

Fuel flange had issues and transmission upgrades were done in later years

Thanks Hal64. Was the fuel flange something to inspect for. Was it letting it leak or causing tuning problems due to blow by.

It was a internal flange failure issue that would cause a loss of fuel pressure and no power, it was a tsb M-1141A. I can't upload it here but can e-mail it to you if you pm me your e-mail. Also 2002-2003 VRSC had a 30 tooth front sprocket and 2004-present have a 28 tooth

Didn't the early V-Rods still have the 4 gallon gas tanks?,,

Hal64HD could you describe what the issue is with the fuel flange and how I could tell if it has been modified due to the tsb? I was out for a long ride this weekend and my bike stalled as though it was out of fuel. I let it sit for a couple of minutes and it fired right back up.

thanks

Was service bulletin M-1141A. You can check to see if your VIN is included. If you have less then half a tank of gas open the fuel cap and start the bike. Look in the tank with a flashlight. If you see a mist or fuel spray the flange is bad.
