Default Hey all new to VRod, Important feedback needed

So, I am buying a 2003, 100th Anniversery strawberry VrodA with a few extras like the small hard Harley saddle bags(chrome lids, silver bag), screaming eagle pipes and some extra misc. chrome, with 6900 miles and in near perfect condition. I am paying $7100.

I rode the bike and it sure smokes any cruiser I've ever owned.

1st- how did I do with price.
2nd - Any issues I should know about with that year.
3rd - Overall, should I love the bike??
4th - what are the specs, HP, torque, engine size...I know I could research but I'm sure someone knows the "quick answer", Thanks.

As you see from my profile I've been around here for awhile but I had an Ultra Classic.

I would love to hear the good, bad and the ugly.

I appreciate any and all feedback on this bike I will be picking it up tomorrow.

Thanks,

Skulmn aka Jeff

Can't go wrong with an under 8k miles VROD, my 08 DX has around 30k trouble free miles.

The 03 is an 1130cc rated at around 115HP. You will find everything you're looking for at www.1130cc.com

You're about to own one of the most reliable HD produced.

Congrats! V-Rods are a lot of fun, which you have already experienced. Until 2007 they came stock with a 3.7 gallon gas tank which was the biggest complaint. There are two aftermarket kits that can convert it to a 5 Gallon tank which is definitely a worthwhile upgrade. Every 15k miles you are supposed to check the valve lashings, which is quite a job since you have to drop the motor. Most of us have found that at 15k miles no adjustment was needed though.

I have an 06 VRSCD model that I'm thinking of trading in for a 2012 Street Glide. I have mixed emotions about doing so because it really is a GREAT bike. What made the D and even the "R" bikes unique over the other rods are the stock mid mounted controls. They only made the mid mounts until MY 08. I find this setup way more comfy for me because I'm short. It also makes the bike feel more sporty. The R model also had mid controls but the ground clearance on it was alot higher than the D or A models. In my opinion this engine should be in EVERY HD bike. Liquid cooled always beats air cooled any day.
