The eletrical problem is thus: My turn signals stopped working Saturday afternoon-none of them blink or come on. When I step on the rear brake, the brake light does not come on. If I use the front brake, the brake light does come on. I have replaced the bulbs and I also replaced the self resetting circuit breakers for both lighting and accessories, but this did not rectify the problem. The headlight works as does ignition, tach, speedomter, odometer etc.
Any idea(s) as to what the next step is ? I am VERY reluctant to go to local dealers due the age (1985 fxef) and make of the bike: They didn't even carry plug wires for my machine (I am going to tune it up when I correct the ecectrical problem). The parts guy(s) at the dealerships are also clueless about this typ of bike and the mechanics seem more intersted in doing scheduled maintenance on new bikes than fixing older bikes. I had a good friend who was great at this type of work but he died last Fall (very inconsiderate of him, especially since he owed me $2500) and the other guy let a car fall on his head and is now not much help either.
