I bought my 2008 Road King Classic last year after doing without for way to long, And I am definitely hooked on this awesome addiction to the great American V-Twin.
When I was shopping around for a bike after not riding for over 20 yrs I heard all the positives and negatives from the advice wielding "experts" out there. I've always liked the old school look and was drawn to the Road Kings. But I found a 2012 Dyna Switchback and bought it but it dropped a lifter a week later. So I took it back and there sat my bike. I made the dealer feel guilty about selling me a bad bike and he let me trade straight for my Road King.
Well after about 3500 miles I've come to realize that people can talk all the crap they want about metric reliability and handling and how Harley is "antique" technology...yadayadayada.
I owned a Suzuki years ago and I've ridden a friends Triumph America. And IMO Those gaudy plastic sport jobs are not comfortable or designed for long rides.
When I get on my bike I want to go for as long as time will allow and I can comfortably sit on my Road King for hours with a bad back and arthritic knees and not even reach for the Tylenol. It's even more comfy than my Caddy.
