New Member in Houston
I'm an expat working in Houston and finally bought myself a Harley 103 CVO Road King 2014 in November last year. Due to being diagnosed with Prostate Cancer a few days before actually picking it up its the first time since my surgery that I've felt fit enough to ride it.
Early thoughts are:
- Its not as smooth as my old Softail Deuce I had about 10 years ago
- Its not as reliable as my Softail Deuce I had about 10 years ago
- It doesnt seem as fast as the Softail Deuce I had about 10 years ago
- I LOVE the cruise control
- I love the quality of the components
- Its nice and comfy
- I love the side bags (not tested them for waterproofing yet).
So far battery given up twice. Once on collection from the dealer (who's guaranteed used bike check program is just a pipe dream) and once when some idiot left the switch on and let the bike for an hour and a half.... although I thought it would have gone into secure mode as I had the key in my pocket.
Thanks to this site I managed to fault find the trickle charge lead that the recovery man managed to blow the fuse of and I now know how to get to the battery to jump start if required. I must admit it is so much work to get to the battery I cant understand why Harley havn't put a positive peg somewhere easily accessible to allow easy jump starts.
This is my 3rd bike here in the USA (The others being a Triumph Scrambler and a Kawasaki KLR650) and I have 2 bikes in the UK (A BMW R100GSPD and a Moto Guzzi 1200 Sport).
I may be losing my jb soon due to the downturn in the oil industry but I'm happy with that if I do as this latest health scare has made me realize I need to retire as early as possible and enjoy your health whilst you have it. I plan a trip round the USA when this happens if I can get a visa to stay here long enough. I'd actually like to retire here as I love the weather but don't think I'm allowed to stay longer than 90 days at a time.
Looking forward to going on lots of rides when my chemo is finished so watch this space as I like to take photos

Have Fun
