New from WA state
I go by the nickname "roobob" and live in Washington State, about 25 miles north of Seattle. I'm a naturalized US citizen for 5 years; been in the US for 18 years; lived in Washington State for 7.
My wife just bought me my first HD for my 50th birthday. As I like to remind her, "I have worked for my mid-life crisis, I have earned my mid-life crisis, and I'm damned well going to have it... and at least it is a bike, not a woman!" Thanks to her patience, I am now the proud owner of a 2008 HD Road King Classic 105th Anniversary edition.
Prior to getting my new bike, I had not ridden a bike in 30 years, and most of my riding experience was on Yamaha 500cc dirt bikes, riding through forests and banana plantations on the East Coast of South Africa.
I'm happy to say that when I got on my new bike, most of the old stuff came flooding back, and I am taking the Harley Davidson training course in a couple few weeks to get my endorsement.
Needless to say, I have a hundred million questions about my bike and I am looking for whatever help I can get. Thanks in advance for your patience.

Here's my 2008 105th Anniversary Edition Road King Classic. What an awesome bike to ride?!
As I mentioned, I haven't ridden a bike in 30 years, but my experience has all been on dirt bikes, so it was a real surprise when I found out how easy this bike is to ride.
I have driven stick-shift cars most of my life since I last rode bikes, and I'd forgotten how much you have to slip the clutch with a bike, whereas with a car, when you do that, you burn the clutch out. So I'm still trying to get over the habit of letting the clutch out all the way all the time.
I guess my biggest surprise is how tight this bike can turn. I was worried about taking the test with it, but it's much easier than I thought. I'm going for the Harley endorsement class from 3/9-3/12. Hoping I can use my own bike for it.
Oh... And before anyone gives me crap about riding a Harley with a full-face helmet, that's because in the Pacific NorthWest it rains all the time, and I plan to be riding to and from work on I5, so full-face is a matter of comfort, not wussyness.

Here's the 2008 105th Anniversary Road King Classic I just purchased this week... Started riding her yesterday. Can't wait to get through the endorsement class!
