Hey guys ,
Just a quick question.
My 2013 FLHTCUSE8 Anniversary CVO needs it's motor replaced. It is at the HD Dealer and I have an extended warranty that should cover the costs less a deductible. My question is , How does the motor company issue a new motor and keep it a numbered matching bike? Do they provide a motor with a blank VIN plate ? or is my bike now worthless? Thanks for any input. VIN is indicated on the frame, replacement will probably be different VIN. I doubt they restamp it for your bike, I may be wrong. I wouldn't worry about being worthless, you'll have all the documentation. New motor should raise the value.
2 things
A) On the HD short and long block replacement thru the cat, I am 99.99% sure they restamp you new motor with the old numbers - I see no reason why they wouldn't do that here
B) If your numbers don't match, you're taking a hit. If I was buyuing your bike, I'd deval it by 25%
If under warranty/ESP, HD supplies an engine stamped with your numbers, and requires the original left stamped case returned by the dealership, or pay a ludicrous fine ( last time I checked, it was $10,000). The dealership is supposed to hold the other parts until claimed as part of normal warranty return, or destroy the old parts.
