Greeting everyone!

I'm a new owner (but used Sporty) of an 05 XL1200R....stock all the way! The last time I was on a bike was a Suzuki GS550 in the early 80's, it was my main transportation through my college years. I involed in an accident on the last day of my shool-years right outside of the University I attended. I hit the pavement so hard that knocked me out for about 15 minutes on the side of the two-lane road....No one stops to help me but a young Angel in a brand new car stopped and expressed her concern for my safety then took me home. I had blood all over one side of my body and I soiled the front seat of this girl car which she did not mind - Until this day, I still believe that "Angels" do exist in some sorts of shape a form that we might not expected; By the way, the truck that hit me never stop and disappeared without being caught!

Anyhow, I fixed up the Suzuki GS550 and sold it to a guy who was killed on this bike 3 months later doing 100 MPH on a 50 MPH zone and lost control of the bike which resulted in direct hit to a gigantic oak tree.

I am older now( mid-life crisis I guess) and this Sportster XL1200R serves as transportation to work (cruising...not speeding) a couple times a week and leisure on the weekend. I hope it will be reliable and trouble free for years to come. I thank you for letting me introduce myself to the forum and please give me any suggestions and help you might have. One more thing, I hope that I will not be made fun of because I am an asian riding a Harley-Davidson bike. The Sportster XL1200R is plenty of bike for me at this time and to me it looks like a Harley, it sounds like a Harley, it rides like a Harley...then it's a Harley! despite of what other think

Sincerely,

hdlam68

Hello RGerber from Melbourne Florida,

Thank you for your kind welcome me to the forum family. Are you living in Prescott Arizona? I used work for motorola (2 years) in Chandler a 10 minutes south of Mesa and about 15-20 minutes from Scottsdale Arizona. My family and I enjoyed Arizon very much until I relocated to San Diego California in 1997 due to reassignment from the consultant company that I was working for. We moved to Melbourne Florida in 2000 and we're thinking about moving back to the west coast. We can't never get used to the humidity and bugs during the summer months here in Florida. A few words to reply to your message. Please take of yourself and your family. God blessed!

Sincerely,

Hung L. Lam and family
Melbourne, Florida

Welcome to the Forum from Nashville, Tennessee.

Second welcome from TN.

I agree that the 1200 Sportster is a fine bike.

Ride it safe.

Howdy, welcome to the forum. Back in 1980 I was riding a GS 1000, first bike but didn't get hurt. Congrats on getting the Sporty. Don't worry about being an Asian and riding a Harley, I don't judge people based on how they look, just how they act around me. Enjoy the ride.
