Hello everyone! I don't actually have a Harley yet, but it looks like I will be purchasing a 2000 XL1200C from a buddy of mine. This will be my first Harley. ACTUALLY, it will be my fist ever road bike! I've ridden dirt bikes before, but nothing on the road!
Call it a midlife crisis, but I am going to give this a shot!
Any words of wisdom will be appreciated. I work in racing and a lot of the guys here are long-term, diehard bikers. So, I have been "bending their ears" quite a bit recently.
I am looking forward to learning a lot about Harleys from you folks! Hopefully, I can contribute as well in the future!
Howdy Mark, welcome to the forum. Go ahead and give it a shot and don't worry about the midlife thing. I bought my first Harley this year at the age of 54. I got the midlife thing from some of the poeple where I live but I just ignored it. Enjoy the ride
I have a brother that lives in Winston Salem. Have ridden there many times. W. Va Turnpike to rt 52 in Fancy Gap, Va and then down the mountain to Mt. Airy (Mayberry) and into Winston Salem. What a great ride.
You are going to like it here. We are a fun bunch.
hi mark,
welcome here and hope you enjoy the place. do yourself a favor and take the MSF rider course, it'll give you a tremendous boost when you get out on the road. practice on your bike when you get it after the course and then go for it. the best way to get comfortable riding is riding, so just do it. good luck with it all and stay safe.
