Howdy all. I joined the forum about a month ago and zeroed in on the Sportsters Forum. I came across an article in the local rag by a gal which was titled "Never Too Old To Ride." I had owned a number of metrics over the years, and did the MSF, but had given in to RVing with a six-wheeler and the bikes were off the scope. After reading that gal's article, I decided riding two wheels had been a lot more fun and just because I'm 67 is no reason to hang up my spurs.
Having had the opportunity, during my metric years, to size up a 1200 Sportster (which about vibrated me to death), and was impressed with how comfortable and nimble it was. Soooo, I quizzed the gang on the Sportster Forum, and they really were of a great help in my coming to a decision. I found a like-brand-new, low-milage, chromed-out 2004 XL1200C, and it's now in the house waiting for some decent weather to again hit the road. Though she thinks I've totally lost my mind, my wife is so far tolerating it. If I can just get her on that back seat....
I recall that one of the reasons I moved off two wheels was Maryland four-wheel drivers. They're second only to Florida's over-the-hill drivers for not being able to recognize a motorcycle, and seem to have no lack of compulsion in running them over. So it'll be scarey and a challenge, but definitely fun!!
congrats on the new ride ron, just goes to show your never too old for a harley. welcome from eastern nc and i hope you enjoy the forum. oh yea that is a sweet lookin sporty
