Just Brian
I class myself as mature rather then old haha, I have been riding bikes on the road since 1976. Had Triumphs /BSAs/ Enfield/ and even some Japanese stuff. So had singles parallel Twins and quite a few new and old Triples. But the first V twin was an Aprilia Falco fab bike toured Europe on it, The second v twin and still have it a Ducati 1200 Multistrarda. But have always liked the sound and that big lump of an engine that Harley make, even though i only have a 883 sportster purchased last year.
I'am just doing some mods while in lock down. I do have a question but will bring that up on a new post. Looking forward to being on here.

Be sure to add an Avitar and most importantly a Signature Line in your USER set up for you and your bike model, year, and all the letters that Harley recognizes it with if you have not already done this.
I tell a lot of new comers to the forum to get: Factory Service manual and the Parts manual. Get a three ring binder and record all your maintenance, repairs, accessories, etc. This will be a great reminder of what was done when. And great material to pass along to the new owner should you sell and upgrade. Also know how large your fuel tank is, a rough idea of your range per tank, and record your fuel usage. I have an app called Simply Auto that I record all my fuel used. I use the odometer and use the fuel gage as reference only. I reset the odometer to zero on fill ups, and I know I can safely get 200 miles on a tank on around town riding, and upwards of 230+ on trips.
Good Luck!!
Don’t be a stranger.
I’d suggest getting an HD Factory Service Manual. Even if you don’t plan to do your own wrenching, there is a lot of good information in there. Yeah, they seem expensive, but are really only about the cost of 1 hour of dealer labor. Don’t even think 🤔 about cheaping out and getting a knock off or alternate brand manual.
There is a lot of great information in this forum. But, our search function sux. I recommend using Google to use a more robust search. The basic is within Google type:
“whatever you want to search for” site:hdforums.com
There is information on the web on how to do more intelligent searches, but, I’d suggest starting from there.
After you’ve done searches, and want more info, don’t be afraid to ask for help in the appropriate sub-forum. Most people will be happy to help you, even if the question has been asked 12,392 prior times. Some will give you a bunch of 💩 for asking what they think is a stupid question. Just ignore them, they were abused children.
After a while, you may decide to venture into the POD. I’d suggest following it a while before actively participating. You’ll get an understanding of who are just trolls, and you’ll get a sense of the attitude of many, and learn to ignore some of the persistent rabble rousers because they too were abused children, and currently live in their mother’s basement.
And above all, ride safe.
