Default New member about to purchase 2008 custom Fat Boy

I went to the local harley shop to work out the deal on a custom Harley w/ detachable bags, windsheld & sissy bar. They gave me the 84 month plan w/ & without the 7 yr, warrenty. Well, after looking at what it was going to cost, my wife....yes my WIFE, said lets just pay for it all at once, cut'em a check. Well I go in and tell'em I'm ready to go. Once I say that I'm going to just write a check they figure up the final cost. Out of nowhere there's an additional 2,000.00 added to what the 84 month plan was. They try to tell me that the 1st estimate doesn't include the 7 yr. warr. BUT they gave me a price with, 287.00 a month with & 257.00 a month without the warr. I find it kind of strange that they tac on 2,000.00 just because I want to pay for it than. The cost with the 7 yr plan came out to 22,210.00 The cost if I where to cut a check, 24,200.00. They say that the 22,210.00 does not include the 7 yr. warr. cost. But yet they gave me 2 different payments with the 84 month plan. The only thing I can tell is that the 7 yr warr is included in the 84 months, but since I threw them a curve ball, they have to add it to the 22,210.00 to make up for what they would've gotten over the 84 months. I hope this gives you guys enough info as I would LOVE to join you on the open road. Sorry for such a long thread, but I need to get this figured out.

Thanks, Scott

Welcome to the Philly Area. Sounds to me that they give you the first payment without the warranty and the second had it so they had to add the cost of the warranty to the cash price. With the difference of $30.00 per month the warranty would of cost you about $2500.00 over the 84 months. Hope that helps

Welcome from Pa, and I agree with 1stHD, sometimes, there are incentive to finance which could have covered some of the cost and when you hit them with the curve, they really have to redo the deal, remember that no matter what they put in front of you, you can always walk away, this is a buyers market, your phone will be ring off the hook tomorrow.

Scott, that story sounds really strange. I think I'd lookthe paperworkover really closely before I signed on the dotted line.
