Default Hello All....

New member here as I just found this forum a few days ago. Have enjoyed reading all the posts and information and looking at all the cool looking rides. Learned to ride taking the MSF class offered by one of the local HD's in the Chicago area 18 months ago. Was all set to purchase a bike and had the wife on my side when we decided to sell our residence, so the bike took a backseat. However, the bug just went into hibernation, and has now resurfaced. Now with the matter of the house cleared up I decided I want to pursue purchasing and get to riding. I went to the local HD dealership today and put a Street BOB on hold as I have to make that final clearing with "she who must be obeyed"...LOL! All that is fine as she has given in to my want of riding and said she will hop on once I gain riding experience. I'm presently getting the finances analyzed before finally pulling the trigger, but I'm pretty sure I can handle the payments. I have a question though, if some of you folks reading would chime in with their personal experiences. I'm really EXCITED at the thougth of owning a HD and actually riding....the sense of freedom and satisfaction of being the captain of your own ship so to speak. I am also a bit nervous as I see this as a big step in terms of financially, but also just in terms of safety. I know everyone has to weigh the risks and make their own choices. Is it common to feel excited, yet nervous at the same time? Has anyone experienced similar feelings? Thanks in advance for any responses as I embark on the journey to come....

Welcome to the Forum.

Anytime I'm spending that kind of money I get the jitters. Add that to the jitters of buying a new Haley and you almost need to be medicated. If you are new to riding get a good helmet and go for it. Start out slow until you get use to the bike (which usually takes about 15 minutes) and then have the time of your life.

I'm a neighbor of yours (Charleston, IL-50 miles South of Champaign) so when you start riding some distance give me a shout. Check out the link at the bottom of my post for the Midwest Rally coming up June 17th. Hell, that's just a hop, skip and a jump from you. We have members coming from Canada.

Have a great time here on the forum and let me know if you need anything.
