I've had a Suzuki RG250 (50th hand), Suzuki GS500 (new) and Hyosung GT650 (new)... all road bikes but never cruisers and now I have nothing. I rode a Virago 250 for a couple of days while my GS500 was getting some warranty work done so I know I won't be getting anything less than 750cc.
I started off thinking Cruisers were old bikers bikes and I wanted to ride bikes that did wheelies all the way, but after my few years on the sports/touring styles, I've changed my mind and reckon it's time to try cruisers. I liked the long highway hauls with no other traffic in sight and the sports/touring posture wasn't so much fun once I was in it for a couple of hours.
I can't make up my mind if I want to get a ready to ride bike or rebuild an older one, but I do want it to be a HD. I don't really know if it's valid, but my mind says if I'm going to get a cruiser, then Harley's are the only option. I'm sure this forum will agree with me there!
I suppose reading around a bit to get my eye in before asking too many questions is a good idea. I look forward to learning as much as I can before making a decision on which model/age/condition to go for and I hope to get a bike in the next few months.
RE: Salutes from Whitsunday, Queensland, Australia
I'm also getting away from fast bikes - my body can't take being folded-up on a sport bike any more. I'm on the hunt for an HD myself. Good luck - ride safe.
