Dropping in to say hi to all fellow riders. Howdy! After riding all the foreign crap I finally grew up to a Harley. My dad has been riding them since the V45 came out ans he is enjoying his 37 Chief right now. I am the proud owner of an (new to me) '01 XL1200C and love it. Now if it would only stop raining so I could take a nice long ride!
I do have a question about storage....... I have a nice wood shed I plan on calling home for my ride but moisture, humidity, extreme heat in summer and cold in winter concern me with keeping my bike safe from the corosion elements. Any hints? I plan on insulating the shed, but not sure if a dehumidifier is all I need or go ahead and invest in Heat and AC. Funny huh? I'd have the only shed in the hood with HVAC. Any sugestions would be helpful before I go whole hog on this idea.
I keep mine in the shed, this is it's third winter now and I have had no problems yet. This year I did have to get a battery tender b/c it wouldnt start in Jan. or so, it had been a month and got real cold since I had started it, but other than that, no problems, dont worry about it, just get a cover to help keep the dust off. This is just from my experience, if I am doing something wrong, somebody let me know!!!!
Welcome to the Forum!!! I keep my bike in a wood shed also, don't worry about the cold or the heat, it's not gonna hurt the bike, now I am gonna tell ya a secret and you might laugh along with everyone else!!!! Get yourself a large bag of charcoal and cut the top off, place it in the shed near the bike!! This will absorb the moisture in the air and keep it off the bike. Buddy of mine told me this last year and I laughed my a-- off, but believe me when I tell ya, I haven't had any moisture on the scoot since I did it!!!!!
