Default New dude here, need info.

I have been on cycles since the 50's. Never owned a Harley, but I am giving serious consideration to buying a 2007 Sportster Custom 1200 I saw today. This seemed like a good place to look for opinions. Are there any known bugs in the 2007 Sportsters? With no radiator, will they overheat at lengthy red lights? This bike has a 7 year extended warranty with it. Can a person do their own oil changes and keep the warranty in effect or must you use a dealer? Are oil changes simple? It has no gas gauge but I was told there is a low fuel light. Is it bright enough to see during the day? It also has Screaming Eagle pipes on it. On a scale of 1 to 10, how loud are they when riding? Is $8300 a fair price for this bike which has 2700 miles and appears to be in near perfect condition.

Thanks,
JPD

P.S. How often are valve adjustments required, at what expense?

Welcome from Florida! I have done my services and my warranty is not void, it depends on if the work you did causes a malfunction that might deem it not covered, as far as the heat is concerned how long are the lights in your area? As far as price check sites like cycletrader, hogs4sale, ebay and try to get a comparison as for what they are going for.

Welcome from Indiana,,Sir unless the light is broken you wont have any problems, and yes i think that sounds a little high but that 7 year warranty isnt cheap either good piece of mind call one of your local dealers to make sure its still transferrable.
