Greetings from Iowa. Just got my first H-D this Oct. I've been riding dirt bikes, four wheelers etc.. most my life. Only got a little riding in so I'm chomping at the bit to get out. Nice weather right now but salt is still out potholes are still huge and people don't think of us right now. Unfortunatly we already have 1 man gone here in Davenport all ready. Car pulled out in front of him but he wasn't just putting around either. R.I.P.
On a better note. I will be ordering a couple manuals soon for my new wheels(05 Electra glide). Any recommendations? I seem to be having a fuel Electrical problem already. Popped a fuel pump fuse and found the fuse block on the left side, I didn't see a fuel pump fuse. So I called the local H-D shop they picked it up and couple days later tell me it was a fuel pump fuse. Didn't ask much more just paid and went on my way( 1/2 hour labor free pickup and drop off and they washed it). Rode it home that was fine. Went to start it up last night and same thing. No fuel pump priming when switched to run. Did some searching and found the fuel pump fuse block under right side cover. (Is this also referred to as the fuel pack or is that something else?) What caught my eye was there was 3 fuses and a relay. The H-D shop said they replaced the fuse but the new fuse was in the spare fuse spot and the fuel pump fuse looked like the rest of the weathered oem fuses. Anyways I flipped fuses around and no luck. I also noticed the fuel pump doesn't prime at all anymore where as before when I was having this problem the fuel pump would prime for just 1 or 2 seconds. I realize it could be a million things from here just seeing if anyone might have a tip for me before my manuals get here. I will be shooting for continuity here in a day or two. I'm a Mechanic by trade and now a Journeyman Machinist I realize it could be numerous things. I will be doing all work on my bike. I'm just new to the H-D scene and haven't had the chance to get up to speed on the fuel injection. Eventually I will be looking in to a plug in diagnostic tool but thats at the bottom of the list right now. That is the reason I had the H-D shop take it. I figured they could just plug it in and get a code. Unfortunately i never got a code from them or no if they even got one besides the fuse ordeal. Thanks Jason
Welcome, we're waiting for spring here too. 50 today, but the roads are a mess. You might try the appropriate forum for your type of bike and ask there. Good luck and ride safe.
