Hello from Texas, I'm a newbie to the site also. Sorry I cant be of much help with the "new" scoot, but youve definately come to the right spot! Welcome and good luck!
welcome from Raleigh....
best place to ask would be the sportster section... but most have never SEEN a right foot shift (HD did that because at the time, their biggest competition was the brit twins)
a better place might be BOTH "ironhead" and "shovelhead" sections under "classic".... the good news is that bike is as basic, as can be.... simple handtools and elbow grease is what you need. A manual will help too. Parts are available,
good luck
