Welcome to the forum and congratulations on successfully completing the MSF course. In choosing any motorcycle, make sure it fits you physically as well as meets the type of riding you intend to do. Harley offers a special deal on new sportsters that guarantees the purchase price when you trade it in for another model. This is a great deal as it lets you learn on a new bike and gives you time to decide what other model you may want to move up to once you have some experience on the road. Also, you may find that a sportster is the perfect bike for you and that is ok. Don't let someone else dictate what model is "best" for you. Good luck and keep the shiny side up!
Welcome, I believe that you will be happier with a 1200. Most seem to move up from
an 883. It is all up to you. Price depends on you location. Here in Fl. I can get a new 1200 (09) for 4995.00 Black out models 6995.00. Shop around for a new bike
unless you find a steal on a used.
Personally, I think you would be happier on a 1200. When I passed my test I bought a 600 Bandit well within a year I was on a 1200 Bandit. Test ride both models and I am sure you will go for the one bigger engine. Ride safe
