Hello all! First time to this forum, just spent 3+ hours that I was supposed to be working. Oops...good thing I'm the boss!
Looking at a Nightster, probably 1-2 years old, thinking let someone else take year 1 depreciation hit. First bike in 20 years. Thinking of buying now and riding in the neighborhood over the winter on nice days to build skills. I could ride for miles around connected neighborhoods before I get to a true public road. I get the "ride to live" part!
Three questions.
How much should a bike like this drop in price per year, 10%, 20%, etc.?
Stealer (yep, same term from the diesel forum I am on) and I talked about crash bars being a good investment esp for the first year. Any other thoughts?
Riding shoes--the Harley boots look like regular med high work boots like the ones in my closet. I can see learning to ride in boots over tennis shoes but I am thinking they are about $80-$120 more than what I can spend at Kohls. Am I missing something?
And, if anyone in Indy has ideas on the best dealer, I would be open to that too.
there are no set %'s that a Harley drops in price yearly, lot depends on care, miles, and add-ons.. and the market...
That winter riding is cold here in the Hoosier state....
Welcome from Indy also! I bought my bike at Indy West but could have done the same at Benson (Muncie) or Bloomington. I took and passed the ABATE and very much recommend it! I searched on E-Bay for Harley Boots and if you can stand NOT having the current model, you can purchase for $60+/-. Yes they were new and not worn. Good Luck and I hope to see you on the road sometime soon!
guess you can ride in your bare feet if ya want... the best part... IT'S YOUR CHOICE!!!! however i would not recommend it especially during the winter months...
