5 years ago I took the riding course and got my MC license. About 2 years ago, we rented a couple of times. Last summer, we rented several more times and rode about 1000 miles on a Harley Ultra. We also rode Yamaha Stratoliner/Roadliner/and other Yamahas. (Both of our kids work at a Yamaha shop.) Even though we could get a Stratoliner at employee price, and were very tempted especially when we saw the new Stratoliner with a fairing, we finally decided on a bike. My wife loved the comfort of the Harley, and you know the saying "if she's happy, I'm happy"! Very true in our case. My wife loves to go and most of the miles we rode last summer were two up miles. We also have a good HD dealer only 2 miles from our house.
We decided on an Ultra and were going to buy a brand new 2010 Black Peace Officers model, really good deal on it (I'm a State Trooper) Then we found a 2009 Ultra "Sunglow Red/Smokey Gold" with only 2000 miles on it. It has security, wire wheels, tour pack rack, etc, everything but ABS.
My wife loved the color! ...and you know the saying...
Well, it's in our garage now! Kind of cold here in Idaho now so haven't ridden it to much but that's one reason we got such a killer deal on it so that's OK. It has only been a week and I have ridden about 100 miles and it's great! 40 degrees is enough for me. Looking forward to riding and learning more about Harleys from this forum!
