Hello,
I currently own a 98 Road King {My first bike} Iv'e had her for about 2 yrs now she's got 25K miles on her, great bike and still runs strong, however I and am thinking of trading her in for a newer fat Boy with lower miles to try and avoid any costly repairs that could occur as my bike getting up there in miles. Just wondering if this is a good idea and if anybody out there has done something simular and how it work out for you.
Thanx,
Phenix
Depends on the wear/miles but,ask the owner of the Fatboy if he/she had the cam chain tensioners replaced or had gear driven cams installed. This will be an issue at one point or another with TC motors. If you keep up regular maint. your 98'RK should be fine. Change scoots if you're lookin' for somethin' different.

Buy what you want, when you want to, and keep it, or trade it as you deem fit
I have a 2005 Road Glide low mileage cream-puff with a mere 49,512 miles on it.... I expect to keep it for a few more years. Other than basic maintainance, it's been a fine bike
I bought it used 12/28/07 with 10,526 miles on it..
Buying a new bike, is about the only way you could HOPE to avoid "costly repairs" and then, only because a new bike comes with a warranty. Buying used... you take a gamble... was the bike maintained, or wasn't it?
What he said, thats just breaking in good.....Talked to local riders, shops and know of guys/girls with over 50k and running strong w/know problems Just keep up with the services and whalla.....Ride safe, live to ride....Merry Christmas....I have an 04 EGS and will keep this scoot for a long time and to see how far the miles go....D
