My husband and I are in the process of buying a 2010 softail heritage. We drove to a dealership about two hours from home because it was highly recommended by several people in our area and the local dealerships were not recemmended at all. Here is the thing, I feel like we are kinda getting the run around at this "recommended" dealership. Not only does it seem we are paying a little more for te bike, but I am not sure the factory warranty or extended warranty are being told to us correctly. This is our very first bike and we are so excited to get it, however, I don't want to pay more than expected. My husband road crotch rockets when he was younger and has not been on a bike in years and doesn't know how to work on them (yet). And I think because of this and us not knowing much about harley's to begin with, might be hurting us in the pocket. Can ANYONE tell me what the factory warranty on a 2010 is? And are there different options for the extended warranty? When we went in to talk with the finance guy, he didn't walk with us about the extended warranty or the tire and wheel, he only said he added them in for us (like he was doing us a favor!) He also didn't tell us there is s deductible to pay on the extended warranty. I just don't have an easy feeling about this/him for some reason. Please help us! thanks
Thanks for the welcomes!!! So this 24 month warranty, is it supposed to be fender to fender unlimited miles, or is it a limited warranty with unlimited miles?
I also don't know if we have the right dealership. When we there this past friday, we already gave them a $500 deposit so that we could get everything in order as far as down payment, financing, insurance etc...so I believe if we don't go with them now we will lose our $500!
Hello and welcome to HDF from NorCal... Extended warranties are an option you chose, not the dealership... Sounds like he is adding it in without asking you first? Different dealerships offer the same extended warranties at different prices so be careful and know that you can shop around for the best extended warranty price. You can purchase the extended warranty up to the point your original warranty expires... I am questioning the dealership you are buying from... Good Luck ! Also if you do a search on "extended warranty" here on the forums, you will find numerous threads on the topic : pros - cons, what's covered, etc

Thanks for the advice Chance. I am checking that out now. I would like to go to a different dealership completely, but I don't want to lose the $500 we already oput down. The biggest thing I don't understand is how this guy is making it sound like if we don't purchase the extended warranty, then the factory warranty is not that great. But if we go ahead and get it, it enhances our factory warranty and therefor it covers fender to fender completely. But I have read otherwise on here, so I just don't know.
I personally did not purchase the extended warranty in October when I bought my new bike... But that is just me... Many here like the comfort of knowing that if something happens to their bike, they will not have to pay out a bunch of cash to fix it... When I was buying, I found very little information on the actual warranty itself... But again you do not have to make the warranty decision before you take delivery on the bike... As a matter of fact, you can buy the extended warranty up to 90 days later at the quoted price... After 90 days,it may cost $100 more...
