I've had my '76 Sporty with a '74 Ironhead 1000 for 9 or ten years now and just picked up an '03 Dyna SuperGlide yesterday (with only 4,252 miles on it!)...she's bone stock, 'cept for the sissy bar and saddlebags...thought I'd poke around the forums to see what my best bet (read :cheapest!) would be to change the stock exhaust...it sounds so...I dunno...LAME! Of course, I could remove the baffles, but I don't wanna re-jet the carb...maybe remove the baffles and add some power cones? I know I'll end up with new exhaust pipes sooner or later, but, having spent all my money on procurring the bike, I need a cheap way to get some sound, without sacrificing power...ideas, anyone?
I like my stock exhaust on my SuperGlide... but I'm an "old fart" and it sounds pretty good...
I rode with a bunch of guys from a "Star" group the other day... most of them had their baffles out and strait pipes... but they just don't have the sweet sound of a Harley... my bike was the best sounding bike in the group of 50 plus bikes.
I do understand trying to get the sound where you want it...
