I bought my first Harley about a month ago. A 2005 Road Glide that is smokey gold. Less than 10k and a very good price.
It was not cared for very well, lots of corrosion and dirt, so I spent the first three weeks cleaning, polishing and replacing incorrect hardware. (Drywall hdwr on the windsheild anyone?)
In 1991 I bought a Honda ST1100 and absolutely hated it! It hurt to ride, and had a high pitched vibration that would cause my hands and arms to go numb. Plus, no power, lousy traction and just plain no fun.
I figured I was too old to ride, so gave it up.
One day I came home from work and found a brand new Buell Thunderbolt in the driveway with the keys in it. No one was home. So, of course I had to try it.
Oh MY! Now I understand the whole V Twin deal. That motor was magic, all I wanted to do was run it throught the gears, stop, and do it again.
It was my BIL's, he stopped in for a visit, and had gone somewhere with my wife.
Same BIL lent me an extra Classic he had laying around, and took me out for breakfast. We got home 8 hours later after touring the Mich countryside. I was not sore or tired after that ride, so at that point it was just a matter of finding the right bike.
I really love my Glide, and hope to share lots of stories and info with other members.
Welcome TKorn,
The least your Brother in law could do is lend you a bike after borrowing your missus. Did he bring her back? I'm hoping he was the brother in law from the other side of the family, not her bother. That's horrible. Are you from Tasmania? LOL Welcome mate.
Welcome! Born and raised in Winter Park myself, now enjoying the milder climate in South Florida. Was up there just this last weekend. If you ever want to wander down South, take US1 and hit A1A everytime it goes onto a barrier island. Nice ride.
