Nice scooter, I dont have any riding experience on a 95 Glide but I do have some on a 2000. My pops owns one and he's had no problems with it at all so far. Been a real good bike. And comfortable like no other. I see that the one your looking at has 20k miles. Thats prolly not real bad. I have a 1998 softail with 18k and still runs strong. But if you have no experience with 4 stokes and tinkering with them, then I would go with a newer one. This one being a 95 with 20k miles may have some problems in the future and will cost you out the A$$ in repairs at your local dealer. Do a search on the internet fo HD's for sale and you'll probably come up with something a little newer that suits you financial and comfort needs. Harleys are a dime a dozen so dont jump to fast.
As far as eBay,
I bought mine from someone off eBay. Everything went smooth untill I brought the scooter home. The guy I bought it from swapped out carbs, although it ran great when I test rode it, and for about a week when I got it home, shortly after if started fouling plugs.
IMHO- eBay is fine to buy off of (I allways do it), (it was my own fault for not checking things thoroughly). And if you pay the down payment through PayPal, they will insure your money so its pretty safe. I didnt pay anything through PayPal, I took all the money with me to pick it up. There is fraud protection at eBay and PayPal if you decide to go through them.
If you do purchase a bike off the net, make prior arrangements with the seller, such as, You will need to see the bike in person, You will need to ride the bike, and take it to a local dealer to get it checked, and If for any reason at all you are not satisfied with the bike, you have the option to cancel the whole deal. If the seller is an honest seller then he will have no problem with this.
Do what I failed to do. Check and double check EVERYTHING. And everything should work out good.
25 years, that's a lot. IMO, rent a bike for a weekend, yeah I know the price is stupid, but try an HD. They are slower than Wings, heavy, bad on gas, and tough to corner on, but they are fun, have character, will get you laid, and and are the best bikes in the world.
Am I biased? A sexually satisfied, fun loving, riding bike every day guy.
P.S. Did I tell you the wife bought me my bike! Chicks love HD's too!
I live close to Toronto, but have a house on Lake Huron, and would be happy to BBQ you a T-Bone and fill your glass. I respect your miles, and would love to meet you face to face.
lv2ridesoft*tails, good comments. I am getting the drift. Sloooow down, there will be other pretty bikes that fit just what I want and at a better price. You know, what if the guy is cool? What if the price is fair and I can get it home within that price? I guess it's a matter of playing the odds and the odds are not with me for the simple fact of distance. I think they call the distance learning or something :-)
I ended up getting my bike thru ebay also, but on the bigger purchases such as that, I search by "Distance: nearest first". I made a 570 mile round trip twice, once to look at it and once to pick it up. Not only did I get a nice bike, I ended up with a good Harley contact.
I happen to love Ebay and have bought many things there. Before I would spend that kinda money I would call the seller and state. "I will take the bike upon inspection. Meet me at the airport tomorrow and if it passes my inspection I will ride it home. Please have the "clear" title so I can inspect it." Then run to your bank and get the money and off you go. Never send that kinda money to someone you have not met. If you really want it, spend the time to go get it.

Welcome from TN. I have bought several things off E-Bay and I even found my Harley there, although I did'nt buy it off e-bay, (it did not meet the reserve) I had contacted the sellers before the sell ended letting them know I was interested gave them my cell number, ended up buying it outright from them after the auction ended, and got it $800.00 below what their orginal reserve price was.
You can get ripped even if you ride the bike see it in person etc. if you don't know what to look for. The main thing is to shop used prices, get a feel for the market, E-bays good for that, find someone that knows what to look for to find a mechanically sound bike. Sometimes the price might be low enough that you can fix a few problems and still come out ahead on the dollar. Look around take your time and the right bike will come to you.
