To lower a deluxe or not. does it affect the ride or improve it

The Deluxe is a perfect height. The FatBoy is about the same. For me, the Lo was too low. If you're very short, go ahead and lower it! It would be a great bike no matter what you did to it.
I used to lower every bike I had, until I started aging. LOL
The lowered look is just so good!
It stiffens the ride and eventually you get to a point where it's not worth the sore back. You'll scrape a few floorboards now and then too, but that's no biggy.
Bottom line, it that you have to live with a slightly stiffer suspension.
No biggy on the younger back.
