I just bought a new 2011 fat bob and have been trying to follow HD advice on break in (driving easy). I have about 500 miles on the bike and was noticing some very small power loss and a different sound from the pipes muffled sounding. I decided today to hit pretty hard not redlining or anything crazy like that but what an improvement. First of all I noticed the sound was great throaty and clear sounding and the power threw all gears was much better. Does this sound right to any one else or has anybody else experienced something like this. One more thing at about 100 miles I did the stage 1 upgrade with the dealer telling me it would be better now and then get a real good dyna tune at the 1000 mile break in.
about the break in, a motor breaks in best while loaded, so long pulls followed by a cool down of easy riding then back at it. Any motor across the board break in is the same car, truck weed eater it doesn't matter. The biggest thing is to keep under certain RPM and not at any 1 rpm for a long period of time. THis allows the ring to seat at all heat levels.
