I will be buying my first HD this summer. I have decided to buy an Ultra Limited and I have talked a dealer down to $23,000 for a new Vivid Black machine. I have also found a used 2012 Limited with 9000 miles for just under $20,000 (highway pegs are the only modification, otherwise this bike is stock). The gentleman I spoke with seems to be a straight shooter, has all the HD service records, had a problem with the voltage regulator on his bike (replaced under warranty), and reports the bike was a joy to ride to California and back.
I feel like this is really a toss-up between the two bikes. It amounts to $50 more per month for the new bike (which I don't think is a huge deal), but I could drop a couple grand into the used bike to put in a stage 1 and a quick release tour pak (or whatever I may decide on).
Welcome from Florida. How many months left on the warranty of the used bike? To be honest for $50 more a month, I'd go for new, but I don't know your finances.
