Heres my deal.. Ive been riding a 2005 1200c sportster since I bought it new in that year. At that time I had been riding a 1977 ironhead, so jumping on a new sporty was like riding a cadilac, for the first second.. See, Im 6'2", 220 pounds and Ive been on a Sporty for the past 7+ years.
Dont get me wrong, Ive rode my bike to florida and back and texas and back, ect.. But I just cant do it anymore.. I cant ride for more than a half hour without being in serious pain at this point..
So with all that being said, Im in a position where within the next few months, I am hopefully going to be able to pick up a new bike.
Ive Narrowed it down to a Road King or a Heritage Softail. bottom line, I love the looks of the softail and I love the comfort of the road king.. I know there have been many a thread on this, ive been digging around.. but heres a fresh one. To be honest, Im 28 years old and theres a small part of me that says "your not old enough for a bagger yet" lol.. no offense anyone. Ive been researching people who rock their baggers without the bags and I actually dont mind, looks kinda beefy but the airshocks are kinda clunky.
Bottom Line is I wanna ride.. I dont do huge trips all the time, but I wanna be able to at least do a couple hours without hurting. Also any opinions on years? I promised myself I would never buy brand new again, however if I can afford it, Ive been thinking the 2011's. I Just saw a 2001 road king for sale but Im not sure I wanna go that old..
any thoughts on anything? lol..

I was on a 05 1200c until I sold it last year and bought a new Road King(FLHR). Bike handles great and has storage on it( unlike your sporty). 500 mile days are no problem for me, even with the stock seat. You owe it to yourself to try one out, they are great bikes!!!
