Hello, new to the forum & forums! So mistakes on setting up profile will be made. IPad just isn't being very cooperative tonight. So haven't figured out how to load up anything to this site with the Ipad. I browsed here for 6 months before getting our first Harley in April 2011. Allot of threads were very helpful in picking out our first road bike. Really it was my wife's first ride that choose the bike.
Wife of 32 years has been dealing with some unreal health issue's for several years and is on the mend. After watching our two sons leave on weekends for trail riding with me, she said its her turn and I'm driving. MSF course, licensed and a visit to our HD Dealer of choice. Talked with a salesman and finding out my wife had never been on the motorcycle on the street he had the gals put a helmet and jacket on her. The guys fueled up his Ultra and he left with my wife! Twenty minutes later she said follow me. She picked out the 2011 Ultra Classic in Light and Dark Rootbeer. So 13,000 miles later I figured it was about time I joined this forum and say thank you to all the members here at HDForums for all the posting and threads that have really helped us with our Ultra. I had never thought that I would want anything more than the KTM (that is why I have two) but what a joy to ride. Proof is I've only ridden the KTM about 50 miles since May 2011 which I'll pay for that this weekend riding the outlaw trails in West Virginia!
Bike is still all stock except for adding highway pegs front and rear, cup holders and a Zumo. Two lane roads, 5th gear with two people we get 52 miles to the gallon. Wife's Prius only gets 45mpg. Yes, 2007 Prius with a Harley sticker 90 miles a day. We saved so much in fuel it was easy to buy the Ultra.
Anyway (sorry for the long introduction) we pretty much ride by ourselves. Road one group ride with the dealer, that was enough of that.
Jerry
PS: if you have lowers and rode this summer off and have severe buffeting after re-installing. loosen up, push in tight to the bike (even of course).
