Default Painting Help

Just bought a 2009 Rocker C and ordered the heartland kit for it also. My first task I'd like to take on is having the bike repainted since I'm not a huge fan of the blue. Does anyone have any advise/recommendations on how to paint the frame? I don't want to screw this up!

Thanks for any advise you could give!

Justin

Hello fellow Buckeye from Savannah, Ga. My 06 883 was blue with a gloss black frame. The tank and fenders on the bike had a few small dents on them. I scuffed them up real good with abrasive pads and then rattle-canned them Rustoleum Satin Black. The side covers, heat shields, sissy bar and brackets, fender covers and 16 " apes and 2" risers I had professionally powder coated in flat black. Both types of paint have been very durable, look good and are easy to clean. Should ya get a scratch where a part was rattle-canned, ya get the paint out and spray it lightly a couple of times and scratch b gone. I'd say you could go either way with the frame depending on your budget.

Welcome to the forum from the coast of San Diego, CA.

The frame take a lot of abuse, I would take it someplace that will blast it and powder coat it any color you want. It will last almost forever then.

Default RE: Painting the frame

I'm planning on having all the parts besides the frame sent to a professional, is there someone you'd recommend?

Also, my main concern with trying to paint the frame is that the guys at my local HD store said it was virtually impossible without tearing the entire bike apart (20+ hrs for a professional). Is there any other options? Perhaps wrapping the frame in a vinyl wrap, or even chrome? This is my first time ever attempting something like this and just curious what my best options are.

Thanks for all the quick responses! This is my first time posting on the site!!! I love it!
