Talking Shoutouts from Oakland!!!

Just wanted to re-introduce myself to the forum. I had a Fat Bob, but it got totaled. So I bought a used FXR with the insurance money, and have been working with various shops to get it all nice and stuff.

The whole front end is new, PM brakes, and everything. Replaced some other stuff too. The motor has been built up, and I guess dynos at 103 or 107, according to the previous owner (who is not the type to tell tales).

Since this model only weighs about 650 pounds, it is much, much, much faster than my Fat Bob, even after the $3000 I did in engine work on that other one.

Anyways, I live in Oakland, and I do some volunteer work for gun rights (we call them civil rights now). I am also volunteering on some anti-profiling stuff for our communities, since that is an issue that crosses over (gun guys/gals and bikers tend to both get a bad rap in the media).

I know the bars are kind of high, and that is a trend I am seeing up here in NorCal. My theory is that it has a lot to do with lane-splitting (bars this high avoid mirrors better). I guess they look cool, and are fairly comfortable as well. The bars came with the bike. I kind of like them now!!!!

Anyways, glad to be back! I got remarried, and have just been super busy on being a husband, and doing pro bono legal work on the above issues, etc. . .

Thank you!!! Yes, it kind of has the NorCal style, and that is just from me living up here. Over time, a lot of bikes just start looking this way - since the mods do make sense for the type of riding we have here (steep hills, snarled up 8 lane freeways, gnarly potholes, etc.)

Many of us like bikes that are light and relatively nimble - and I guess back when I was riding Buells, we called them "hooligan bikes" - same basic concept. Kind of like an urban assault vehicle!!!

As you may know - Erik Buell was the man behind the design of this particular model. I have met him, and even gone on a couple of group rides with him (he is wicked-fast, I mean intensely fast, like stunt-rider fast).
