What's up ALL, I am new here and I am getting ready to purchase a new 2006 NIGHT TRAIN and I was wondering if anybody could help with some suggestions on what would be better to buy on my soon to be NIGHT TRAIN either CARB. or EFI. THANKS to all and I appreciate the help! JAYHAWKBOB
Here's my $.02. And you will be getting alot, trust me. EFI for guys who ride and let others service. Carb'd for those who like to tweak. Simple explanation but hopefully you get my point. Personally, I love the EFI on my '05 RK Classic. Quick starts, no choke, no adjustments for elevation.
Your question is a valid one and you have to be aware of the merits of both to make an acurate decision. Both have strong points such as easy starting on the FI, altitude compensation on the FI, Good performance on the FI.
The carb is easier to work on and trouble shoot for a person with not much knowledge of the system over the FI.
Like I said you have to be aware of the merits of both to make a decision you can live with. You may have a problem getting a carb on a bike in 06.
Had Carb on my 01 FLSTC, now EFI on my 01 RK classic. I doubt I'll ever go back to a carb, I can go from sea level to the NC moutains with no change in performance. My carb would start to pop and act up in the hills, not so with EFI. But on the other hand I can't really work on it, have to take it in to dealer for EFI work. My 2 cents...
Howdy, welcome to the forum. I was in that same position when I got my new Harley a couple of months ago. I took the adivice of several people here and went with the EFI. For me, it's been a good choice that I don't regret. I've also heard the rumor that HD might be phasing out the carbs except the Sportsters. Enjoy the new Harley.
Welcome from TN. I personally have had both and I prefer EFI over the carb, it won't be long before every bike is EFI, all auto's have been for some time.
