Howdy lads and lasses, new to the forum although i've been coming here for a few months because when you do a google search for a "how do I remove..." subject you almost always see a HD forum thread covering the subject.
Also a new biker. Awhile back I was in a low spot for a bit, like the saying goes you'll know rock bottom when you get there. So to escape rock bottom I day dreamed. I dreamed of freedom, and adventure. What personifies these things...you should know if your reading this.
That is the how and the why of the thing. So the past few days when i just get frustrated with working on the bike(sweet jesus, i should have gone into the bike parts business as a know it all teen, i'd be bill gates rich by now) I scroll through the forums. i am starting to notice an undercurrent of distain for new riders. My favorite was something along the lines of "die yuppie scum biker". Hahahahahaha. No, I get it. As a life long surfer, nothing makes me cringe faster than a tourist showing up to the beach with a new surfboard thinking its as easy as it looks. They promptly set about trying to kill themselves and anyone else in a fifty yard radius. Now that I reread that paragraph I kinda understand. But shouldnt it be along the lines of "maybe I should school this cat if for no other reason than self preservation"?
Me? I grew up racing motocross and transitioned to street bikes when my knees and ankles began whining. So i have a pretty good grasp on bikes and bike physics. But its all the rest that is like being a stranger in a strange land. The terms and speech. At 41 it's kinda cool to be a newb again.
By the way, for whats its worth...yeah, the bike is the freedom and adventure I always thought it would be...glad to be among your ranks.
