Softail Leaking gas....HELP
Softail Leaking gas....HELP
I am posting for a friend of mine who has a 1997 Softail. The bike only has 800 miles. Bike has been parked for years and it appears it is leaking from an overflow hose under the carb. I have attached the pics he has sent me in hopes someone can confirm or identify the issue. My first guess was that the float in the carb may be stuck. Any help is appreciated. This is my first post and I hope I posted in the right place.

Welcome from Hampton Roads VA. Clean carb. Also drain tank and rinse out tank till it runs clear and make sure tank screen looks good. Replace new needle and seat. Make sure fuel lines look good. Will run like new. Works like a charm every time. Skip the tank and 50% chance problem will come back.

That is a Mikuni carb and that is the overflow line. You might want to pull the plug ont eh bottom of teh carb and drain the gas from it and then it wills top leaking. Or start the thing and ride it. Or better yet turn the gas off on the petcock and then do the rest of the above.
