Hey Everyone,
I am a new rider from Dallas. I am looking to buy my first motorcycle and I am joining here to see which Harley people recommend. I have a couple specific bikes in mind, but I would like to hear everyone's opinion.

Well, that depends on what kind of riding you're going to do. That's sort of like saying, "I'm buying a new car--what do you recommend?" 
It also depends on your pocket book.
I'd say go down to a local HD shop and see the various bikes and take some test rides.
Sportster--"inexpensive" comparatively speaking, nice little runaround bike, lots of fun. Not a touring bike generally speaking. Lower HP>
Dynas--a step upfrom Sportsters in HP/dollars
Softtails--step up in HP/dollars/and options. HP same for softies and touring. Heard it said that the softies are good for two hours, but lots of people ride long distances on these rides. Probably the class (besides touring that has the most options of different bikes/styles.
Touring--the "big boys" so to speak. Rides designed for comfort, et., touring. Able to drain your wallet faster than a speeding bullet, but that's true of any Harley.
I would highly recommend you evaluate what kind of riding you think you will be doing, get on a bike and try a test ride. Talk to people in the respective forums for their particular style.
I had a Springer softail and now have a Road King Classic. Love it. Have fun.
