Newbie to forum, greenhorn to riding, got a used "04 XL 1200C off of Ebay, 10,500 miles on the speedo, got my permit and learning how to ride. Been bucked already but didn't let the bike go down, some scratches and bruises which make me a bit more attentive.
Retired and punched out at 60. Wife just passed on from cancer, kids grown, so folks say the bike is a midlife crisis, I say it is my therapy. All ways wanted to ride, one of my younger brothers had a 250 Yamaha got to ride it forty years ago, that is the extent of my experience.

I gotta tell ya, the odds are stacked against you. But At any rate, that 1200 has a bunch of power and needs your respect. Speed kills.......Thats what I learned. Welcome to the forum.
Welcome. Absolute best thing you could do is take an MSF course. It's not all that expensive, and you will learn some things I guarantee it. Best of luck
Well you can learn the old fashion way as most have -self teaching or you can enroll in one of those Motorcycle safety courses and learn the right way how to ride not to mention completing the course will typically give you a break on your Insurance.. Any how good luck in learning and Welcome to the HDForums.
I'm just a little younger than you. I'm another believer in the MSF courses. Even after riding/racing dirt bikes for 30 plus years, I went in with an open mind and the instructors tought me things that made riding on the road so much more fun.
