I traded in my 2012 Ducati Monster 796 today for this 2013 Harley Davidson Dyna Switchback. The speed and handling were awesome with the Ducati but it gets old after a while. I started getting tired of only being able to ride for an hour at a time without my legs cramping up and feeling exhausted when I get done riding. I wanted something I could go out and just enjoy the experience of riding without it feeling like a workout.
I test drove the Softail Slim and the Wide Glide but I wanted something I could go on an overnight trip with and those two bikes, while awesome looking, weren't real comfortable at highway speed for me. I got an awesome deal on this Switchback and just couldn't say no. I figured if I was going to be putting bags and a windscreen on whatever I bought I might as well get the one that comes with them. Drove it for a few hours today and I absolutely love it. The power is nothing compared to the Ducati but it's no slouch with that 103cui engine. It's a big change but I think one for the better.
Project number one is going to be to get a Vance & Hines slip-on. The bike is way too quiet right now. I was actually quite surprised how quiet the factory mufflers are on the '13-'14 bikes. I wasn't expecting open pipes or anything but I expected a least a little sound. I don't want to go all out obnoxious but I'd like enough sound that cars around me on the highway can hear the bike and know I'm there. It makes me nervous riding at 75+mph next to a bunch of cars that can't hear me.
