Riding home & check engine light comes on, then the battery light. A little research later found reference to voltage regulator & stator. Cannot find where the stator is on the motorcycle. Am I on the right track?
Replaced to battery last year. No issues with the battery, just didn't want to be stranded with a 4+ year old battery.
Welcome to the forum, you will get more responses to your question if you post it outside the welcome area! You should pick up a service manual to diagnose electrical problems, the stator is inside the primary.

You probably won't get much technical help in the new member area...as you probably have seen.
Yes you are on the right track. If you have a charging fault it's probably going to be either the voltage regulator, or Stator. Assuming no wireing faults.
The stator is inside the primary cover (left side of engine). There are several tests you can run to diagnose the issue before you tear into it. Look in the Do It Yourself forum under Electrical and Lighting for tests and specifics.
Always start by checking the battery connections and grounds. Loose connections cause many charging issues.
