Good vibes from Illinois - New HD Rider :)
Helloooooooo, forums! 
I just picked up my first Harley-Davidson this afternoon: a beautiful 2007 883 Sportster Custom in a dark metallic grey (the picture doesn't do it justice). It has 3585 miles on it, and I got it for $4000 from an individual. It has forward controls, low rise sissy bar, and an unbaffled aftermarket exhaust. Oh, and this little "lucky" bell stealthily dangling from somewhere under the bike near the front.
The only other motorcycle I had was when I was in undergrad, a 1989 Honda CBR 600. This is a far cry away from that experience, as when I first sat on this Sporty and it fired up, I had the biggest grin on my face. I feel this bike will move me (not just in the literal sense), unlike my CBR I had nearly a decade ago. My German girlfriend calls this feeling fahrspass, which translates into a deep emotional response of joy and satisfaction from driving/riding.
Looking forward to many wonderful miles, meeting great people, learning this beautiful machine, and much, much fahrspass!
