Hi All, Not a Harley owner yet but looking to get an 883 Sportster in a short while. I am doing my homework first to find out what problems I may get with one and how reliable/unreliable they are. At the moment I am riding a Yam Dragstar and Suzuki van van beach bike. Any advice on the 883 would be great, I am looking at around 2006 MY.
Welcome from the Isle of Man. First off, forget all the crap you've heard about Harley reliability/problems - it hasn't been true since the 80s. Riders of Jap bikes just love to rag us about it.
Second, unless you are the size of the Duchess of Cambridge consider a 1200 Sporty; 883 feels very underpowered to many riders very quickly, and the price is not much different.
