Hi all, new member here from Australia, loved harleys for a very long time, about 6 months away from getting my first, still tossing up between a fatboy or deluxe, got 6 long months to make my decision.
I got about 3 weeks before I get my 2005 Black Heritage Softail Classic. I chose this model for its looks and because it comes standard with detachable winshield, detachable large saddlebags, sissybar and the touring handlebars. I can strip it down to look like a fatboy or deluxe or I can use all those accessories for when I go touring on the longer trips.
I must admit between the fatboy and deluxe I think the deluxe looks best, especially with the whitewall tyres, spokes and blue and white paint work. It does look more heritage than the fatboy. Fatboy however, I hear is one of the most popular selling bikes.
Good luck with your decision. Either way, you can't go wrong.
By the way, since you are from Melbourne, like me, I would like to recommend Harley City on Sydney Road if you havent checked them out already. They gave me a good quote and they are well organised with a big Harley cafe next door and a hugh warehouse out the back where the Harleys get serviced....they are worth a look.
