Default Using Front tire on Rear wheel

Guys, i am in process of changing my wheels. From stock i am going with 21" front and 18" rear setup.

Already finished with the front, and now have issues with the rear 18"

I am thinking to go with 18x 3.5 wheel and run 130/70/18 tire on it... but!!!

Regarding the tire, i blow my mind and really tired to search and read forums.

There is 2 options:

1st, is to go with VeeRuber WW 130/70 (dont really want it, because of time and price)

2nd, is to go with CM1 Milestone Continental WW 130/70 (front)

Question is, if i can run the front Conti tire on my rear 18'' wheel?

The specification says that its heavy touring tire, and i hope i can get some miles on it.

Does anyone did this before? Or maybe i have to go with stock 16" size and thats it???

Thanks!

VEE Rubber doesn't sound good

"The specification says that its heavy touring tire"

Yes a heavy touring Front tire...only 63H Load Rating

I guess wanting a WhiteWall is the "Sticking Point"

Here is a good place to read about motorcycle tires. Load rating is key for the rear. A chart is at the bottom of the page.

I believe the rear tire minimum rating is a 74H.

Read this first.

Reversing the tire direction can compromise it's water displacing ability, but not reversing it can cause that internal lap joint to fail, probably varies in risk among brands.

If you're not doing the tire mounting yourself, might want to ask around, some shops won't do a front on back, or reverse rotational direction.

My best friend runs a '94 softail, with the same tire front and back. Just reverses rotation.

Do note the wet road ability as mentioned above... my friend doesn't ride wet too often

There was a time for a few years, back in the '70s, when some tyres were made for both front and rear applications, but that hasn't been the case for a long time. I used them myself and they were brilliant - 40 years ago! Modern tyres are designed for specific applications, front or rear, so do the wise thing and use suitable tyres for the appropriate wheel. Then the rest of us will sleep easy......
