Wheel compatibility chart and options for replacing 08 + dyna wheels
Does anybody have a chart that shows which swaps are possible between models and years?
I take it my 08 street bob is 19 inch front and 17 inch back with 25mm axle. I really want to get rid of my laced wheels and looking for options. are 08 + dyna wheels the only option or are there other models with mag wheels (ideally black) that could fit, or can you just change the bearings on the wheels.
you can pretty much use any wheel you want....sticking to 25 mm bearing wheels makes life a lot easier...you just might have to play around with the wheel spacers an rotor spacing. I picked up a 18" front wheel off a switchback I was going to use on my fatboy but I sold it. I don't know how wide the dyna front end is so a touring wheel might be too wide but I think you're safe with a sportster or softail wheel.
It is possible to swap wheels around across many years, however there are various traps you can fall into by doing that (including rotor fit and OD). Use an on-line parts website to help you identify suitable alternatives, but it will certainly be simpler to stay with wheels that come with 25mm bearings. Start with other Dyna models from '08 onwards, also check out the Shop tab on the H-D website, if only for ideas.
