Default 23" front

New to this site. I have a 17 Street Glide Special and thinking about a 23" front conversion kit. There are a lot of choices out there and looking for advice. Some say you can run a 23" with the stock setup with fender, others say I need a 6° rake triple tree, and another that uses an offset triple tree that brings the forks forward 2" and keeps the original rake. I don't want to stick a bunch of coin into it and find out come spring that it handles bad. Any advice is welcome. Thanks.

You have to have a new fender regardless, the pre rushmore bikes would clear a 21 with a little creative drilling/tilting of the fender but the newest ones will only do a 19.

I've seen a 23 stuffed into a stock rake and to me, it looks like crap. It puts the tire pretty much into the frame, looks like it is riding a wheelie until you slam the front end. Then once you've done that, you're going to blast your fender into your lower trees on your first good bump sooooo.

A raked tree setup can be had pretty reasonably from pickard USA and it will move it forward the appropriate amount, maintain the correct geometry, and maintain suspension travel plus it just looks right with the wheel moved forward away from the frame.

Someone else can probably give you more info in detail but I'm contemplating a 23 or 26 next year so I've been researching this myself.

Thanks for the advice. I,'ve been looking around and have seen many different options with many different prices. I have the fairing ripped apart right now as I was installing an amp and speakers, so I figured I would try to get some of the parts needed now, and the fender, wheel and tire can wait till we get closer to spring.

You can run your stock fender if you go with Battistinis lower axle fork legs to run a 23” wheel.
