Default Powder coating wheels question

I want to get my touring wheels powder coated. Obviously the tires, valves, rotors and pully have to come off along with the cush isolator and bearings/sleeve. But looking at a parts diagram it shows 4 bearings on the rear wheel? One ABS bearing on the rotor side and three on the pully side? Is that accurate? Looks like 2 outboard of the pully. Seems unlikely but what do I know...

The wheel has two bearings it rides on. The pulley has two separate bearings it rides on. This is accurate. The pulley uses a cushdrive system to the bearings keep it on the axle but separate from the wheel.

Source, I just powder coated my wheels.

He reads, don't worry!

Thanks, that explains it. Appreciate the reply.

Wheels look great btw.

Regarding bearings. I've repacked timkin tapered bearings on my FXR, but never dealt with sealed. If they have to come out, I'll need a puller of course and I have a shop press, but the wheel won't fit in it. Do you just hammer the new bearings in? I assume there is a stop for the proper depth. Any particular bearing brand that I want, better then stock HD?

Thanks

My local indie pulled the bearings and took the tires off. He reassembled them for me too. They're in my unit currently, and when I get home tonight, I'll put them back on the bike. I just use the stock HD bearings and have never had a reason to go with different ones. My Springer went over 30k on the rear set and didn't explode until HD over tightened the drive belt and killed them.

My indie used a bearing puller and a shop press to uninstall/install the bearings. I would NEVER recommend hammering bearings in.

Thanks. Yep, in the mean time I did some youtube surfing and found a couple videos using pullers and installers. One uses two machined aluminum (assumed) discs/pucks and a long bolt that goes through the hub, and you just crank it down to compress the bearing in. But I think I may go your route and just have a shop do it.

Bearing pullers/installers are relatively inexpensive.

I am planning on buying my own bearing kit and shop press for the future, so if you have the means and ability, I'd buy the tools and DIY. I went with the shop because he pulled the forks apart and had the tools to put them back together. I was on a time time crunch. The next time I'll be ready.
